Physical properties that define sweet spots
Petrophysical analyses help to identify gas-enriched places - the so-called sweet spots
A sweet spot is characterized by:
- a low reservoir water saturation,
- a high content of organic matter with abundant kerogen,
- a low content of clay minerals,
- a high porosity, voids mostly filled with free natural gas,
- a high permeability and/or rock fracturability,
- the presence of natural fractures increasing the efficiency of hydraulic fracturing.
