Prime Minister Kopacz: Poland will continue shale gas exploration

At a press conference that followed the Council of Ministers' meeting of 3 February 2015, Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz commented on the status of shale gas exploration following Chevron's decision to discontinue its operations in Poland. Journalists have asked whether this means the end of the shale gas project in Poland.

- Poland will continue to explore for new sources of energy. Shale gas and energy security are our priorities. Drilling will go on, although the latest efforts are unsuccessful – said Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz.

Similar statements were made on the preceding day at the meeting of Polish Government representatives with Mr. Maroš Šefčovič, EU Commissioner for Energy Union.
